Important:
In some guide books you will see Sierra Nevada located in Monachil. Whilst the resort does belong to the municipality it is important to note that the way to Monachil is completely different. Always follow the signs to 'Sierra Nevada'. On the other hand, there are some guides with Sierra Nevada having access via villages in the north east of Granada province or from the west of Almería. Again, this isn't quite accurate as the Sierra Nevada Natural Park is huge. The only way of reaching the ski resort of Sierra Nevada is from the Sierra Nevada main road which starts at the city of Granada.
From Granada airport:
Soon after leaving the airport, there is the first access to the A92 motorway for Granada on the right. Once on the motorway, keep in the right hand lane, as almost immediately you will see the 'Santa Fé - Granada - Sierra Nevada' exit (Exit 230). Take this and go through the village of Santa Fe, (you will see a crossroads with traffic lights and a BP petrol station on your left). Go straight over. You will immediately join another main road (the A92-G) which takes you to the south of Granada, where you will see a sign for Sierra Nevada (Exit 125) on your right. Take it and join the A44, which, after several exits, starts to have four lanes. Shortly, you will see the sign for the right hand lane for Sierra Nevada. Keep in this lane. Go straight on and after a tunnel get into the right hand lane, which is the one for Sierra Nevada. 23 km later you will arrive at Sierra Nevada. Continue straight ahead towards the resort and at the small roundabout at the entrance take the street furthest on the left, which goes into the resort. The first building you see on the right is the new Meliá Sol y Nieve. Leave your car in the entrance to the hotel and our personnel will take charge of your luggage and also park your car. Check in and start to enjoy your unforgettable stay.
In all the roads around Granada there are good indications for Sierra Nevada. Follow them until you reach the Granada ring road (the A44) where, wherever you come from, you will reach us without any problems.
